FOR AGES 22 - 30
ECC Life
ECC Life is a post-secondary, community-based program designed for young adults with developmental disabilities who have completed high school and need continued support to build independence. Serving individuals ages 22–30, the program bridges the gap between school and adulthood through life-skills training, vocational exploration, and hands-on learning in the community.
Every participant has a Personal Education Plan (PEP) with three-year goals created collaboratively by staff, therapists, and families. These goals guide progress in daily living, communication, community navigation, and work readiness—ensuring each young adult grows at a pace that respects their abilities and strengths.
Located in Chamblee, ECC Life serves families across Metro Atlanta, providing a rare, small-group adult program grounded in consistency and connection.

OUR APPROACH
Real-World Learning That Builds Independence
ECC Life focuses on the skills young adults need to participate more fully in their communities, homes, and potential workplaces. Learning happens through daily practice, structured activities, and Community-Based Instruction (CBI)—where participants apply skills in real environments.
Our curriculum includes:
- Community navigation: shopping, using MARTA/public transit, banking basics, pedestrian safety
- Daily living skills: cooking, laundry, hygiene routines, kitchen safety, time management
- Communication & social skills: appropriate interactions, personal boundaries, self-advocacy
- Recreation & wellness: fitness, hobbies, community outings, healthy habits
- Career readiness: volunteer roles, supported work experiences, job-site visits, soft skills training
- Functional academics: budgeting, scheduling, basic reading/math integrated into real tasks
These experiences help young adults gain confidence, competence, and a deeper sense of personal capability.
WHAT MAKES US SPECIAL
A Rare Small-Group Adult Program With Personalized Support
Exceptionally small group size
ECC Life typically serves a handful of young adults at a time, allowing for highly individualized instruction, safe outings, and strong relationships.
Three-year Personal Education Plan (PEP)
Each participant has customized goals for life skills, social development, and vocational growth—reviewed and updated with families regularly.
Community-Based Instruction (CBI)
Participants frequently learn in the community: practicing shopping, transportation, volunteering, or navigating public spaces as part of daily routines.
Vocational & volunteer partnerships
Young adults may gain hands-on experience through supported volunteer or internship opportunities with local businesses and nonprofits.
Family-centered collaboration
Families are partners. Staff help caregivers navigate adult services (such as Medicaid waivers or employment support) and plan for long-term goals.
