ECC LIFE
The ECC Life Program supports young adults aged 22 to 30 years old with vocational and life skills training. This program is essential for our young adult students, as it equips them with skills to thrive in community settings. Our goal is for students to engage in daily activities—such as working, shopping, and socializing—either independently or with appropriate support. ECC Life is a transitional program designed with Community-Based Instruction and Personal Education Plans with a three year goal for attendance to support vocational and life-skill training.
Program Planning:
Our Community-Based Instruction (CBI) approach aims to enhance independence and social interactions. This collaborative effort involves students, educators, and families, with crucial input from parents and guardians.
Aligning Personal Education Plan (PEP) Objectives:
Our CBI approach aligns with each student's Personal Education Plan (PEP) by addressing their specific needs, learning domains, life skills, and family priorities.
The ECC Life program features vital Life Skills Training including:
-
Community Skills: Students learn about pedestrian safety, banking, money management, and shopping.
-
Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Students learn greetings, personal space, and impulse control.
-
Recreation & Leisure: Students learn social skills by participating in group activities.
-
Personal Management: Students learn about grocery shopping, personal hygiene, and laundry.
-
Career & Vocational Skills: Students identify interests, explore job sites, and engage in meaningful work activities.
